Would You Abandon Facebook if Robert Gibbs is Hired?

I have to admit that I am not a fan of Robert Gibbs, but I am a big fan of Facebook. My husband and I are both conservatives. My husband called and told me that Facebook had hired Robert Gibbs. Well, as of this writing, that’s not quite true. What I did find out was that Facebook is in negotiations with Mr. Gibbs.
Apparently no formal job offer has been made. My husband has told me that if they do hire Gibbs that he will delete his Facebook account. I have mixed feelings on the subject as I use Facebook to stay in touch with friends and family.
I also have strong feelings about companies who hire individuals to increase their friends in government. I feel that too much of that goes on in today’s government. Lobbying government officials to gain unfair advantage for big business is part of what is wrong with our legislative process.
I’ve also read that Facebook, as a company, is planning to go public next year. It seems they are jockeying for position. The New York Times says that Facebook wants to hire Gibbs as part of their communications team in preparation for their IPO offering. Some say this would be a good choice for Facebook.
The minute that Facebook and Gibbs make the decision to become affiliated, I know that my husband will act. It will be bye bye Facebook. Whether or not I will follow, is undecided at this time. I’m not going to worry about something that hasn’t happened yet. Would you abandon Facebook if they hire Robert Gibbs? Just asking.
